Rahul Bose - Hindi Actors

He was an advertising copywriter with Rediffusion before he turned to acting. With the film adaptation of Upamanyu Chatterjee's book English August, Bose made his debut on the big screen in 1994.   Ever since then he has acted in over two dozen films. Some of his notable film appearances are his roles in Bombay Boys, Split Wide Open, Takshak, and Mr and Mrs Iyer among others.   Bose also starred alongside Juhi Chawla and Sanjay Suri in Jhankar Beats, a film that based itself around the music of the late music director RD Burman.   Rahul Bose was paired opposite Konkona Sen Sharma in 15 Park Avenue again after Mr and Mrs Iyer. He also starred opposite Kareena Kapoor in Chameli, which won him critical acclaim.   The actor was also actively involved in the relief operations following the 2004 Tsunami that hit the southern coast of India.His role in Split Wide Open won him the Best Actor award at the Singapore Film Festival in 2000.   Time magazine called Bose 'the superstar of Indian arthouse cinema.'In Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam he worked with Mallika Sherawat for the second time. Before this he worked with Mallika in Pyaar Ke Side Effects.   In 2003, Bose entered mainstream Bollywood cinema with Jhankaar Beats in which he played one of two friends, R.D. Burman fans who are obsessed with winning a music competition.   Boosted by a successful soundtrack, Jhankaar Beats was a surprise hit in urban multiplexes and went on to win several awards for its music.   The same year, Bose appeared in another Bollywood film, Mumbai Matinee which saw a UK release.   He starred in Chameli opposite Kareena Kapoor, playing a wealthy chain-smoking Mumbai banker who is stranded in the monsoon rains with a prostitute.   The film was not a box office success, but won several Filmfare and IIFA awards. < Read less Read more >
